The Architects Golf Club Golf Course Review

The Architects Golf Course provided us with a fun an eventful day.  The first nine holes, although maintained nice, was nothing special.  The last nine holes on the other hand really provided some challenging shots and beautiful course design.  Overall, the course had some challenging holes and my playing partners all really enjoyed the round.  I would recommend playing this course during the off-season or during the weekdays because in my opinion I do not believe the course is worth paying the $110 charged on the weekends.  My co-host Mark gives this course a 7 out of 10 and I rate it a 7.5 out of 10.  In addition to our video review, we provided pictures of all 18 holes of the course along with a brief write-up and rating of the different aspects of the course.  We hope you enjoy the review.

Below you will find a brief video from your golf gurus, and a picture slide show of the course followed by a write up.

                                  Golf Guru Ratings:

                                  Ratings (1 -10):

                                  Staff:   7

Staff at the course was good; they were very friendly and gave us some insight as to the history of the course and pin locations for the day.  There was a ranger presence on the course.  I believe we saw three rangers during our round.  My only negative comment about the staff was that on the 16th  hole we were asked by one of the ranges to pick up our play.  He told us that we were actually playing ahead of pace (we completed our round in 4 hours) but they had put twosome, a threesome and another twosome behind us.  The threesome started complaining, because they were waiting on some holes.  I think the course needs to manage tee times better and pair twosome up together so they don’t run into these issues in the future.  For $110 I don’t wont to be rushed especially if my foursome is playing ahead of the suggested pace of play.

                                  Facilities:  10

Facilities at the course were great.  The greens fees include a small bucket of balls to hit at the driving range.  What is nice about the driving range is that you hit off grass rather than mats.  In my opinion it is always nicer to hit of grass rather then the turf mats.  The practice facilities also offer a chipping green, practice sand bunkers and a putting green.  The club house was also very nice.  I believe it is only a few years old and it is very well done.  We hade our customary brew at the end of our round and the bar got good ranks from both Mark and myself.  Because we liked it so much, we had to have two rounds.

                                  Manicured:  8

Overall the course was manicured well.  Tee boxes were flat and had grass and the fairways were trimmed nicely.  The ruff, although not overly high, was extremely thick and hard to get out of.  It should be noted that the fairways had a lot of divots that I can’t fault the course for, however it would be nice to see fellow patrons fill them in.  As for the putting greens, they seemed bumpy and some had a signs of a fungus starting to grow.  I expected a little more from the greens, however overall the course was aesthetically pleasing.

                                  Booking Process: 9

The booking process was very easy.  Tee-times can be booked either over the phone or on the course website.  I chose to call and spoke with a very nice person at the club house.  I received a confirmation email upon completing my reservation to ensure everything was correct.

                                  Price: 6

I do not think this is a $110 course.  The track of the course and the aesthetics do not match the price.  I think our review would be a lot higher if the course was priced closer to the $75 range.  I would recommend waiting to play this course during the off-peak season or during the weekday when prices are closer to the $75 range.  This is a fun course with some challenging hole designs, but for $110 I expected more from the course.

                                  Overall Golf Experience: 7.5

The Architects is a fun course that I would recommend playing during the off-peak season or during the weekdays to all of my fellow golf freaks.  This course is in no way worth the $110 they charge on the weekends.  The practice facilities are incredible and the club house is very nice.  I found the course to be extremely forgiving off the tee.  The challenge to the course in my opinion are the approach shots into the greens, so make sure to practice with your mid to long irons before playing here.
